What is a Bluezone?

As explained on the National Geographic website: “For more than a decade, author Dan Buettner has been working to identify hot spots of longevity around the world. With the help of the National Geographic Society, Buettner set out to locate places that not only had high concentrations of individuals over 100 years old, but also clusters of people who had grown old without health problems like heart disease, obesity, cancer, or diabetes. His findings—along with easy steps you can take to live more like these cultures—can be found in his book, The Blue Zones Solution”

Which animals can I spot in Nicoya Penisula?

As we always mention, Costa Rica is very varied in wildlife, but you always have to be lucky, patient, and sometimes really quiet to find the animals. However, if you take different tours in the area, you have a good chance of seeing white-tail deer, white-faced monkeys, lots of sea and shorebirds, such as seagulls, royal terns, magnificent frigatebirds, whimbrels, and many more. As well, depending on the season you can spot whales, dolphins, swordfish, sea turtles, etc, even from the ferry trip.

How do I get to Nicoya Penisula?

You can get to the Penisula by land or by air. By car you will take a ferry from the port of Puntarenas (2 hours from San Jose) cross the Gulf of Nicoya, and get to Paquera, taking about an hour. If you prefer to fly then this will take you about one hour on the plane from any San José airport. However not to worry about how to get there, we will make sure you travel in a way that fits your needs, we can organize the flights, rental car with ferry ticket or transport that will take you from hotel to hotel.

You can also drive around from the Guanacaste area, although, depending on where you are coming from, it might take up to 6 hours.
